St. Olaf upsets, Johns Hopkins repeats in NCAAs | Hanover CollegePublished by
St. Olaf College (Minn.) earned its first men’s championship and Johns Hopkins University (Md.) notched its second consecutive women’s crown during the NCAA III national cross country championships. The NCAA’s finales were held Saturday, Nov. 23 on Hanover College’s campus course in Hanover, Ind. St. Olaf placed three runners in the top 11 to edge two-time defending champions North Central College (Ill.), 84-86, to claim the Oles’ first cross country title. Junior Grant Wintheiser was third overall in 24:34.8 to lead St. Olaf. Classmate Jake Brown finished eighth with a time of 25:00.0 and senior Brian Saksa was 11th in 25:07.3.
